Weddings
“Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate." - Mark 10:9
Dear Soon-to-Be-Marrieds!!
Congratulations on your engagement and all the hope and excitement that is before you. A few things you should know before you get married at the Cathedral:
Marriage Preparation vs. Wedding Preparation
Living your Faith
*You don’t both have to be Catholic to be married in the Catholic Church. However, one of you must be a baptized Catholic.
Is at least one of you a participating member of St. John’s Cathedral parish? If you live out of town or are off at school, does a member of your family belong to the parish? Were your parents or grandparents married at the Cathedral? We simply believe that members of St. John’s have the right to be married in their sacramental home. However, if your church home is another parish, that is where you should be celebrating your sacrament (some extenuating circumstances may permit a wedding at the Cathedral. If your Cathedral wedding request is granted due to special circumstances, please obtain the permission of your home pastor before doing scheduling the date).
Planning Your Wedding
1. Complete a Wedding Request Form. Questions about this form may be directed to the Event Coordinator at the Parish Office: 208-342-3511 x110 (Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) or email boisecathedral@gmail.com.
What times are available for scheduling our wedding?
- Saturday – 10:00 am, 2:00 pm, 7:00 pm
- Weekday availability by request (parish calendar permitting)
- NO weddings scheduled on Sundays, Christmas Eve, Holy Days of Obligation, during Lent or the Paschal Triduum, or other designated days.
Fees for Weddings in the Cathedral
- $750 for the support of the parish and its ministries
- This fee includes the basic Wedding Music Fee with Dr. Ray Morvant. All extra musician fees will be charged separately.
All checks can be made payable to St. John's Cathedral and sent or delivered to the parish office at 707 N. 8th St., Boise ID 83702.

Wedding Requests must be submitted at least six months before the desired wedding date. Please contact the parish office at 208-342-3511 or boisecathedral@gmail.com for possible openings. The calendar changes often; dates are only scheduled and confirmed once all documentation and non-refundable down payment are received AND the interested parties have met with the Pastoral Associate to discuss Cathedral dates and assign clergy.
