St. John's Accepting Applicants for Business Manager

The Cathedral Parish of St. John the Evangelist in Boise, Idaho seeks a full-time Business Manager to oversee parish office administration in the areas of finance, human resources, facilities, and information technology.

The Business Manager will oversee all financial activities of the parish including bookkeeping, reports, planning, and payroll. The successful candidate will also ensure compliance with diocesan HR policies and federal/state employment laws. Additional duties include collaboration with parish leadership, parish councils, and outside contractors, as well as administration of office IT systems/equipment and staff benefit/leave/timesheet programs.

This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in business, management, finance, or equivalent experience. A minimum eight to ten years business management experience is also required,  including records management, budgeting, and at least five years supervisory experience. Candidates should also have experience using financial/record keeping databases such as PowerChurch and demonstrated experience working collaboratively on councils or advisory boards preferably in a parish environment. Required skills include:

  • Understanding of accounting and record-keeping principles and practices
  • Knowledge of cash-flow management and budgeting
  • Knowledge of personnel policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Demonstrated skill in data management/record-keeping and reporting
  • Proficient computer skills with expertise in spreadsheets, presentations, word processing, and email
  • Database management and reporting skills a plus
  • Solid analytical, organizational, and planning skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking, mentoring, conflict resolution, and written communication
  • Effective time management skills, ability to prioritize, and ability to delegate tasks
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Working knowledge of the structure and teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Ability to successfully pass a background, criminal history, and credit history check
