Below are highlights of the events we've had this year celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Cathedral
To kick off our anniversary celebration, we began the year with the
"Raise the Roof" Gala
This celebration aimed to bring together individuals and families from every corner of Idaho, fostering a deeper connection with the Cathedral and the meaningful sacraments celebrated within its historic walls for over a century. Throughout its history, the Cathedral has been a beacon of faith, community, and support, and this event was an opportunity to honor its legacy. The Cathedral has hosted the ordination of many priests and deacons, along with the significant blessing of Chrism oils—ceremonies that resonate deeply within every church across Idaho.
This evening featured a program that included an elegant address by Bishop Peter Christensen, who shared insights into the Cathedral's historical journey and its impact on our communities. Guests were delighted by an evening filled with exquisite dining, joyful dancing, and a lively cocktail hour, all designed to celebrate the rich heritage and vibrant future of our beloved Cathedral.
Honoring our Living Rectors Celebration
As our anniversary celebration continued, we also took time to honor our living rectors
Fr. Joe McDonald, Fr. Henry Carmona, Fr. Jerry Funke, Fr. Mariusz Majewski, and Fr. German Osorio, for their faithful leadership and lasting impact. Each rector was presented with a commemorative plaque as a gift from the Cathedral in gratitude for their dedicated service. This special event was a meaningful opportunity to recognize and give thanks for the dedication, guidance, and service these rectors have offered to our community.
