Altar Servers

It is a great privilege to serve at the Altar of our God and therefore Servers are chosen from those who display a desire for a more intimate union with our Lord and God, Jesus Christ.  Our loving Savior becomes present on the Altar, and Servers have a solemn responsibility to do their assigned duties with dignity and reverence.  Also remember, aside from the Priest and possibly a Deacon, servers are the most “official” people most parishioners see at mass.  People will judge what is acceptable and appropriate at Mass by observing how the Servers behave and conduct themselves. To a certain extent, our servers are role models for the parish.  At St. John’s servers may start in 4th grade and continue for as long as we can keep them.  All people of good faith are welcome. All that is required is a desire to be a Server at the Altar of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
